Hallo Forengemeinde, :hilfe:
wir cachen nun schon eine Weile und ich hab mich heute voller Erwartungen zu einer Premiummitgliedschaft bei geocaching.com durchgerungen.
Leider bisher nicht zufriedenstellend.
Da uns schon relativ frühzeitig das ständige ausgedrucke nervte, haben wir uns die WPs via GC aufs Garmin 60CSX geladen und die Beschreibungen unterwegs auf meinem inetfähigen Handy (ohne GPS) online angeschaut. Das ganze klappt zwar relativ zufriedenstellend, war aber zeitweise Netzbedingt recht langwierig bis da mal was geladen war, gerade in Gegenden mit schlechtem Empfang. Nun dacht ich mir ok PQ klingt ganz gut, diese Cacheselektion auf der Karte ist was feines...gesagt, getan...
Auf Mapsource geladen und dann aufs Garmin und ich musste mit Entsetzen feststellen :schockiert: das diese Funktion wohl leider relativ sinnfrei ist. Weil mehr als nen paar WPs mehr runterladen macht das ja auch nicht?! Muss ja weiterhin mit dem Handy im Netz nach den Beschreibungen suchen was ja nicht sinn des ganzen war. Desweiteren fiel mir auf das diese Selektion bei der Cachsuche auch nicht den gewünschten Erfolg erzielt. Kann nach wie vor nur in einem näheren Zoom bsp. Earthcaches suchen. Zoome ich auf ein ganzes Bundesland sagt der mehr wie 500 und zeigt nix an obwohl da mit Sicherheit nicht mehr wie 500 Earthcaches sind :irre: . Was könnte ich jetzt noch machen damit ich mit meinem Navi-Only cachen gehen kann? Oder habe ich irgendwas falsch gemacht?

Servus.....

1. Dein 60CSX kann keine Cachebeschreibungen darstellen, das können von Garmin nur Colorados oder Oregons. Das liegt schonmal nicht an geocaching.com

2. Für Handies gibts Tools wie z.B. SmartGPX mit dem man dann die Cachebeschreibungen in den gpx-files der PQ lesen kann, dann brauchst dazu kein mobiles Internet

3. Die kml für GoogleEarth ist begrenzt, d.h. Du kannst als Premium täglich maximal 250 Anfragen starten und es wird Dir maximal 500 Geocaches auf einmal anzeigen.

4. Pocketqueries sind mehr als "nen paar wegpunkte runterladen". Du kannst gezielt nach Cachetypen, Cachesizes, etc pp... suchen.... dazu musst dir nur mal das Fornular zur Suche genauer anschauen. Aber bedenke dass eine PQ auch begrent ist und Dir maximal 500 Caches auf einmal liefert.


Lösung für Dich:

Je nachdem welches Handy Du hast besorgst Du Dir eine Software um die Cachebeschreibungen zu lesen.
Da gibts einige.... kommt halt drauf an welches Betriebssystem Du hast. Bei Symbian OS wäre es SmartGPX.... für Java Handies gibts aber auch Sachen.... einfach mal Tante Google oder Onkel Forumssuchfunktion hier fragen.

Bist du dir da sicher?? Laut garmin.de ist das 60 CSX auch GPX fähig.
Würde mich interessieren habe zwar nen Oregon300 wollte aber vielleicht zum CSX wechseln.

Ja das 60CSX liest die Daten aber die Hinweise sind unvollständig. Das heist mann muss das noch über ne dritte Software drüberformatieren damit es auf dem garmin angezeigt wird. Von haus aus haste mit den gpx daten nur die koords und eigendlich nichts weiter.

Demzufolge müsste man damit es annähernd funktioniert nochmal extra geld für ne software ausgeben.

oder kann man die einfach immer wieder aus der registry rauslöschen und neu installieren?

Das bedeutet dass du die software nach den 21 Tagen weiterhin uneingeschränkt nutzen kannst, nur dass beim start ein fenster mit aufgeht dass du wegklicken musst,

Also, WO ist Dein Problem????

Ich zitier mal die Beschreibung dazu auf gc.com, welche Du dort jederzeit in Deinem Profil unter "How to view Caches ......." lesen kannst

Getting Started with Google Earth

To get started, you will need to download Google Earth. The basic version of the software is freely available on Google's website.

Google Earth supports custom files, called KML files, for viewing information. A KML file is a specially formatted file created for Google Earth that contains data that is viewed only when using the Google Earth desktop application. The KML data integrated from Geocaching.com includes information such geocache name, type, and difficulty/terrain ratings that is easily browsed in the dynamic Google Earth mapping interface.

Please Note: The coordinates used in Google Earth are only an approximation and can be up to 100 ft from the actual location. The Geocaching Google Earth feature is a tool for viewing geocaches in a general location. Do not use the coordinates in Google Earth for finding or placing geocaches.
Viewing Geocaches with Google Earth

The Geocaching Google Earth Viewer allows you to see up to 500 geocaches within a particular map view. A “map view” is considered a single view of the map and does not include pans around the view area. Such pans count as additional map views.

Premium Members can receive geocache results for up to 250 different map views per day. Basic Members can receive up to 25.

To change the default settings so that panning or inputting another location does not automatically update the map and therefore count as an additional map view, right click on “Geocaching Google Earth Viewer” and select ‘Properties’. Click on the ‘Refresh’ tab and change your settings. If you only want the map view to populate with geocaches on request, choose ‘On Request’ from the drop-down menu under “View-Based Refresh” and click ‘OK’.

If your map is set up to populate geocaches only on request, you will need to right click on “Geocaching Google Earth Viewer” and select ‘Refresh’ for each map view that you want to populate.

Additionally, a maximum of 500 cache listings will be shown on the map at any given time. To get all the caches in the area you will need to zoom to a level that shows less than 500 listings. When the number exceeds 500 you will receive a random sampling of the caches in the area.
How to Use the Geocaching Google Earth Viewer:

1. Download the Geocaching Google Earth Viewer from My Profile (the link is under the Geocache Google Earth Viewer section on the right), which will open in Google Earth.
2. Input a location in the text box at the top-left of the Google Earth tool. Your search must be limited to a view area of 500 miles (805 km).
3. Geocaches within the map view will be shown as geocache icons. Click on an icon to view specific geocache information, including cache size, and difficulty/terrain ratings
4. Click on the GC code to view the cache detail page on Geocaching.com
5. Expand the “Geocaching Google Earth Viewer” header to view details on the number of geocaches within a map view and how many map views you have used
6. Expand the “Geocaches” folder to view the number of geocaches by type
7. Expand the folder for any geocache type to view cache names
8. To save, right-click on the geocache or geocache folder that you want to save and select ‘Save to My Places’
9. To delete, right-click on the geocache or geocache folder that you want to remove and select ‘Delete’

Ich möchte das aber nicht in google earth anschauen sondern auf

auch dort max. 500 caches pro ansicht. steht dort auch irgendwo, aber nochmal raussuchen tu ich dir das jetzt nicht

Wenn Du 500 Earthcaches haben möchtest, solltest Du das per PQ machen.

Einfach ein Zentrum eingeben, und bei Any Cachetype den Haken wegnehmen und dafür nur Earthcache anhaken. Dann bekommst Du einen PQ mit 500 Earthcaches.

GSAK ist genial, die $25, die einmalig zu zahlen sind, sind bestimmt gut angelegt. Allerdings ist es auch recht kompliziert. Um es wirklich zufriedenstellend nutzen zu können, braucht es ein paar Macros. Mit viel Hilfe hab ich es aber inzwischen so eingestellt, daß ich total begeistert bin.

Eine andere Alternative ist CacheWolf, allerdings hatte meine Version keine Kartendarstellung. Soll es aber wohl auch geben.

PQs bringen Dir nur was, wenn Du auch die verarbeitende Software nutzt. Nur dann kann man gezielt filtern, was man grad braucht.
Allerdings lassen sich die PQs schon gefiltert bestellen. Bei mir fliegt grundsätzlich alles raus, was die Attribute klettern, tauchen, Bötchen fahren hat.... ;)
Und für den Urlaub fliegen auch die Mysteries raus, die kann ich zu Hause schon nicht lösen, da werd ich sie im Urlaub schaffen... :roll:
